Betty LaBrant Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Betty Lou LaBrant a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who left this world on January 6, 2026, in Lakewood, Colorado. Born on September 2, 1938, in Denver, Colorado, Betty lived a life rich in love, laughter, and meaningful connections.

Graduating from Alameda High School in 1956, where she was proudly crowned homecoming queen, Betty’s warm and vivacious spirit captivated everyone she met. She began her illustrious career as an Escrow Officer at TransAmerica Title straight out of high school, dedicating her professional life to the company until her well-deserved retirement in 1993. Her colleagues could see that she approached her work with the same tenderness and care that defined her role as a homemaker, balancing both responsibilities with grace and love.

Betty was not just a career woman; she was a devoted mother to her daughters, Deborah LaBrant Hartung (Frank) and Rebecca LaBrant. Memories made with her family are cherished treasures. Her daughters recall fond moments of her laying across the back seat of the car, stealthily offering directions while keeping her presence a secret as they cruised together during their teenage years. The joy of music filled their home, reflecting her eclectic tastes spanning Gospel, Country, and of course, the iconic Elvis Presley, whose concert they attended as a family in 1976 at McNichols Arena. A family trip to Disneyland in the early 1970s and frequent visits to Glenwood Springs are but a few of the adventures that fostered an unbreakable bond amongst them.

A consummate homemaker, Betty would return from a long day at work, kick off her high heels, and ensure that dinner was on the table, lovingly cooking for her family. For those who knew her, her loving nature radiated through every meal prepared and every laugh shared.

In addition to her devotion to family, Betty had a spirited personality that drew people to her. She will be remembered as someone who never met a stranger, always ready to share a smile or a kind word. A true lover of life, her interests included baking, shopping at her favorite stores TJ Maxx and Ross, and an endearing collection of Beanie Babies that brought her joy.  Betty also held a deep affection for animals, forming a unique bond with her cherished grand-dog, Minnie, who served as her constant companion and source of comfort over the last twelve years.

The legacy Betty leaves behind is profoundly felt within her family; her granddaughter, Jennifer Taylor (Doug), and great-granddaughter, Maycee Taylor, reflect the love and values she instilled.  She is also survived by step-grandchildren Michael Hartung, Lauren Hartung and Alexis Shrader (Brandon). The pride she held in her family was paramount, and she often spoke of the joy derived from being a mother and grandmother.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Richard LaBrant, with whom she shared 35 cherished years of marriage. She was also welcomed into eternal rest by her siblings—for whom she held immense love—Roy Ward, Delores Ward, Verney Ward, and her parents, Pauline and Victor Ward.

As we remember Betty Lou LaBrant, we celebrate a life beautifully led. Her vivacity, kindness, and infectious spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. The love she poured into her family and friends will echo throughout their hearts, forever a touchstone of grace and warmth. Betty Boop, as she lovingly liked to be known, will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
