Donna Marie Burgard, age 83, of Arvada, Colorado, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026. She was born on July 29, 1942, and lived a life rooted in love, faith and devotion to her family and community.
Donna was, first and foremost, a devoted wife and mother. She shared a beautiful life with her high school sweetheart, James “Roger,” and together they celebrated 58 years of marriage built on love, partnership, and unwavering commitment. As a mother to Janine and Jamey, she created a warm and nurturing home, always placing her family at the center of her life.
She later extended her caring nature into her work as a paraprofessional at Hackberry Elementary. While still working at Hackberry, Donna began her role with Arbor Dental, where she provided clerical support and ultimately spent nearly 20 years. Throughout both roles, she built lasting relationships with coworkers who became dear friends.
Faith was a guiding light throughout Donna’s life. A dedicated member of Spirit of Christ Catholic Community, she was actively involved in Young at Heart and Bible studies. After the passing of her husband, she found comfort and companionship in the parish widows group, continuing to live her faith through connection and service.
Donna is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Janine; her son-in-law, Steve; her son, James (Jamey); and her daughter-in-law, Becky. One of her greatest joys was being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished Caitlin, Jordan (Haley), and Alexis (Jeck), as well as her great-grandchildren, Ryder and Rosie, who brought her endless pride and happiness.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James “Roger” Burgard, and her parents, Marvin and Marie Lykou, and is survived by her siblings, Carol Napolitano; Marvin (Burry); Dave (Teresa); and Richard (Rick) Lykou.
Donna will be remembered for her gentle spirit, deep faith, and the love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on in the family she adored and the many lives she touched.
A Vigil Service will be held on Thursday, April 23 at 5:00 PM at Spirit of Christ Catholic Community. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 24 at 10:30 AM, also at Spirit of Christ. Interment will follow at Arvada Cemetery.
She will be deeply missed and forever held in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
