Dorothy Alberts Obituary

Loading

Dorothy Jean Alberts, a lifelong Coloradan and beloved community fixture, passed away peacefully at her home in Greeley on April 6, 2026, just two weeks shy of her 91st birthday.

Born in Greeley and raised in Prospect Valley, Dorothy's career in cosmetology began after her graduation from Prospect Valley High School and Charles Cosmetology College in Denver. Her 38-year legacy in the beauty industry spanned salons in Cherry Creek, Estes Park, and Hudson, eventually leading her back home to open her own shop.

In August 1955, Dorothy married Bob Alberts. Their early years took them to St. Paul, Nebraska, where Bob taught and coached. While there, Dorothy worked at the American Legion alongside Dorothy Lynch-a claim to fame she shared as they worked together during the creation of the famous Dorothy Lynch salad dressing.

After four years in Nebraska, the pull of home brought them back to Prospect Valley. While Bob operated Bob's Meat Market (formerly Toby's), Dorothy established Dorothy's Beauty Shop, where she remained a staple of the community until their retirement and move to Greeley in 2005.

Dorothy's greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her daughters, Rhinda Peterson and her husband John, and Rhonda Pippin and her husband Rob; and her son, Bobby Alberts and his wife Connie. Her legacy continues through her six grandchildren-Derek Baumgartner, Landon Baumgartner, Breann Aragon, Chelsey Ludwig, Lindsey Kimball, and Haley Martin-as well as 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial Service A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at 11:00 AM on April 15, 2026, at Adamson's Mortuary (2000 47th Ave, Greeley, CO). Family and friends are invited to stay for lunch immediately following the service.
