Dorothy LeBaron Braun, lovingly known as Dot, passed away peacefully in Denver, Colorado, on March 31st 2026, at the age of 92. Born in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania, she moved to Denver as a baby and lived her entire life in the city and surrounding mountains she cherished.
Dot was preceded in death by her beloved husband of many years, Richard George Braun (2016), and her son Daniel Raymon Braun, who passed unexpectedly just four hours before her. Their close bond in life continued to the very end.
She is survived by her children Gayle Braun Driver and William Daniel Braun; her sister Jean Laverty; her grandson Korey Braun-Wyatt; and many beloved nieces and nephews who brought her great joy.
A dedicated middle school teacher for many years, Dot taught Home Economics and Science. She was deeply loved by generations of students who remembered her warmth, patience, and enthusiasm in the classroom.
Dot was a warm, creative soul with a lifelong passion for collecting all things owls. She treasured quiet days at her beloved cabin in the Rockies called Fishunt, where she made countless happy memories. Known for her delicious homemade meatloaf and perfectly crisp dill pickles, she showed her love through the kitchen and through quiet, caring acts for family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held for Dot and Dan on Saturday, July 26th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Golden, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in their memory to Safe Harbor Lab Rescue in Golden, CO or Desert Labrador Retriever Rescue located in Phoenix.
Dot will now rest with her husband Richard and many dear family members at the peaceful site overlooking Green Mountain Reservoir, forever listening to the endless music of Cataract Creek.
Her family takes comfort knowing she is reunited with those who went before her, surrounded by the mountains she loved so much.
