Harvey Lee Behm, age 92, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, in Brush, Colorado. He was born on December 19, 1933, in San Bernardino, California, to Florence and William Behm.
Harvey lived a life defined by craftsmanship, adventure, and an enduring love for the outdoors. A skilled carpenter, craftsman, and mason by trade, he took great pride in building things with his hands- many of which will stand for generations. His work reflected the same qualities that defined him as a man: precision, patience, and integrity.
An avid outdoorsman and natural explorer, Harvey was always in search of his next adventure. He loved fishing and hunting throughout the country, with Montana holding a special place in his heart. A true marksman, he was an expert black powder cartridge rifle sharpshooter who won numerous national championships. His passion for the sport ran so deep that he even built his own firearms- combining technical mastery with old-world skill.
Harvey also dedicated himself to service, volunteering with the Los Angeles Mountain Search and Rescue Team, where his strength, experience, and steady presence helped others in times of need.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Behm; his children Lynn Sturtevant, Laura (Glen) Wood, Tina Louise (Kenny) Judkins, Bill (Karmen) Behm, Don Summers, and Stacey (Lyle) Carpenter.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Dawn (Tom) Whitehead, Jason (Amy) Markus, Jennifer (Jason) Anderson, Jonathan (Christmas) Walker, Brian (Elle) Spaulding, Caleb Behm, and Miranda (Cody) McHugh; as well as 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Florence and William Behm; siblings Ernie and Betty; son Harvey Lee Behm II; and grandson Derrick Summers.
Harvey Lee Behm will be remembered as a man of strength, curiosity, and quiet wisdom-someone who valued tradition, self-reliance, and the wide-open spaces of the world. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the skills he passed down, and the adventures he never stopped chasing.
