Michael Fredrick “Mike” Adolf, age 83, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, in Littleton, Colorado, surrounded by his family. Mike was born on October 11, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He faced his long battle with Parkinson’s Disease with courage and grace.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Jo Ann; his daughter Christine Uribe and her husband Paul; and his beloved grandchildren Brianna and Nicholas. He is also survived by his brother James (Connie), his sister Betty Held (Bill), and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
From 1960 to 1964, Mike proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard, with assignments along the South and East coasts and in the Bahamas. Following his military service, he earned a Master’s degree in Mathematics from Miami University of Ohio. He went on to teach at Hanover College in Indiana and later at the University of New Mexico, where he also pursued doctoral studies.
In 1981, Mike moved to Colorado to join Lockheed Martin as an Aerospace Systems Engineer. His distinguished career continued with Lockheed for 23 years before retiring in 2004.
Mike lived a full and active life beyond his professional accomplishments. He volunteered as a firefighter and enjoyed participating in intramural flag football and softball while at Lockheed Martin. In the late 1990s, he rebuilt a 1981 Triumph TR7 and later an MG Midget, racing with the Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing Club, where he earned numerous 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes.
A man of many talents, Mike loved tennis, landscaping, and woodworking, crafting fine furniture pieces and completing countless home improvement projects—culminating in the remarkable achievement of building an entire house. He also enjoyed camping trips with the Colorado Eagles camping group, exploring Colorado and beyond with friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mike's memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, supporting the fight against the disease he so bravely faced.
