Robert Lew Hoerr, 91, of Golden Colorado passed away peacefully March 16th, 2026. This gentle giant of a man will be profoundly missed. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother in-law and uncle.
Bob was born on a farm in Illinois to Lewis and Myra Hoerr and later moved to Wheeling, Missouri. He graduated from Chillicothe High School, where he excelled in basketball and earned a football scholarship to the University of Missouri. After earning his degree in Agriculture, Bob served two years in the Army before relocating to Colorado. While pursuing a Master's in Accounting at the University of Denver, he met Jere, his wife of 64 years. Bob later became a partner at a successful CPA firm in Lakewood, before launching his own practice, which he continued to run until the age of 84.
Bob was deeply devoted to his family and took great joy in sharing in their lives, always supporting their interests and endeavors. He never missed a sporting event, concert, play, or school activity involving his grandchildren. With his warm demeanor, tact, and the ability to share his wisdom and personal insights, Bob contributed to his family's pursuits in a way that was both encouraging and respectful, never overstepping their choices.
Bob was a dedicated Denver sports fan, watching almost every Broncos and Rockies game. He attended more than twenty Rockies games each year well into his mid-eighties. Always upbeat and optimistic, he appreciated individual player achievements more than the team's overall record.
Bob was an avid reader who made it a daily ritual to read both local and national business papers from cover to cover. He had a deep appreciation for books, particularly enjoying suspenseful and fast-paced fiction. He followed several authors and read their entire collections through 2025. For nearly twenty years, Bob cherished his trips to Hawaii, always bringing along two or three novels to accompany him on his well-earned getaways
Bob is survived by his wife Jere Hoerr; children Thomas Hoerr (Cherie Reichart), Shari Hoeffner (Mark); grandchildren Sadie Hoeffner, Audrey Hoeffner, Matthew Hoerr, and Zachary Hoerr; and his siblings Gary Hoerr (Patty) and Joyce Cummins (Chuck). He is preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Myra Hoerr and his sister Cheryl Hoerr.
Bob lived a full and meaningful life, defined by quiet strength, deep devotion to his family, and an unwavering work ethic. He had a soft, loving nature and will be remembered for his lighthearted spirit, positive attitude, and reassuring warmth toward others. He was a peaceful man who leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and gentleness.
