Alvin Henry Plucker, 79, passed away on March 24, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and a legacy shaped by resilience, devotion, and a lifelong bond with the land. Born on April 23, 1946, he grew up on a fish farm in Parks, Nebraska, where early lessons in hard work and the rhythms of nature stayed with him throughout his life.

His path carried him far from those Nebraska waters. Alvin served aboard the Pueblo and endured captivity as a prisoner of war, a chapter that revealed the depth of his courage and quiet endurance. Though he rarely spoke of those experiences, the strength he carried from them was evident in the steady, grounded way he lived.

After returning home, Alvin built a life defined by dedication and grit. He became a turkey farmer, pouring himself into the demanding work with patience and purpose. Outside of work, he found joy in the outdoors-fishing, hunting, artifact hunting, and flint knapping. These were more than pastimes; they were expressions of who he was, a man connected to the earth and its history, with an eye for beauty in the simplest things.

Alvin is survived by his wife, Jeanie; his son Artie; his daughter Crystal; his daughter in law Cheryl; his granddaughters Heather (Ronnie) and Ruby; his grandson Anthone (Alex); and his great granddaughters Freya and Skadi. He is also survived by his sisters Penny (Bob) and Shirley (Kenny). He was preceded in death by his parents, Arrina and Gerald; his brother Gerald; and his son Martin.

Those who knew Alvin will remember his weathered hands, his patient way of teaching, his sharp eye for an arrowhead half hidden in the dirt, and the quiet joy he found in a good day's catch. Most of all, he will be remembered as a father and husband whose love was steady, constant, and deeply felt.

A celebration of his life will bring together all who were touched by his presence, with his final repose at Fort Logan National Cemetery, where his service to his country will be honored with dignity.
