Our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Bruce Kent Babbitt, 84, passed away in the early morning hours on Friday, September 8, 2023, in Denver, Colorado.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, September 19th, 2023, at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, Colorado 80229. Visitation will follow from 2 – 5 pm.
Bruce was a proud Air Force veteran, serving our country an impressive 21 years, 6 months, and 12 days. Life took him from his birthplace of Niagara Falls, New York to several states across the country. After retiring from the Air Force, he settled the family in Thornton, Colorado, where he would have a lengthy career in the warehouse at Packaging Corporation of America. Over the years, Bruce enjoyed swimming in the Niagara River, watching a good car race, restoring his '68 van, a leisurely round of golf, various volunteer activities, being selected Elk of the Year 2020-2021 at the Northglenn Elks Lodge, and, of course, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Wanda Babbitt; his grandson, Shelby Henderson; and three brothers and one sister.
Bruce is survived by his children: Christine Miller (Brent), Kathrine Nelson (Glenn), and Susan White (Jacob Buhrman); grandchildren: Sylvia Bender (Keith Davis), Chelsea Miller, Kenneth Nelson (Lacey), Amanda Kautz (Brian), Jessica Gianna (Anthony), Shayna Henderson, Hannah White, and Rachel White; great-grandchildren: Payton Nelson, Caleb Nelson, Nathan Nelson, Fable Howard, Elliott Gianna, AJ Gianna, and Julep Henderson.

He was a great mayor. I have remembered him all these years. I lived in Arizona from 1979 until 1985. I loved that state. He's so missed.
