James Hinkle Obituary

James Howard Hinkle, 52, longtime resident of Denver, CO, went home to Glory in the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 14, 2026. He was known as "Hollywood" and "King" by many of his friends. James was born on August 4, 1973 in Culver City, CA to Jack Hinkle and Judy Hallgren, who both pre deceased him. James leaves his son, Jayden Hinkle, his best friend, Greg Bliss, his sister Carol Gervasi and her husband Tony, his nieces, Janie Gervasi and Katie Michielsen, his aunt, Sandy Maraman, his brother, Randy Hinkle, and many friends. James had a passion and a heart to minister to the homeless and outcast in Denver. James' own words about himself were, " I'm a Christian, I work for a living, I don't smoke, I love children, cats, and sometimes people." His favorite books were the Holy Bible, Les Miserables, and Mad Magazine. He loved to sing, draw and do tattooing. He once rollerbladed down the steps of the state capital in Denver.

There will be a celebration of his life on February 27, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Open Door Fellowship, 1567 Marion St., Denver, CO, where he was a longtime congregant. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Open Door Fellowship in Denver, CO, a church with a heart for the city of Denver, or to Hope for Homeless Youth in Los Angeles, CA, where Pastor Clayton Golliher has worked tirelessly to bring the Kingdom of God to James and many more youth just like him. James' favorite Bible verse was, "Jesus wept." - John 11:35. "In Love's service, only wounded soldiers can serve."- Brennan Manning
