Jerry's mother died when he was seven years old. As a result, his family moved often and lived in multiple states. He and his siblings were often separated during this time. Jerry attended nine different schools in eleven years. Eventually, Jerry was placed in a Boys Home.
In 1954 Jerry enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his four years of service, he was stationed at both Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota and Lowry Air Force Base in Colorado. While serving at Lowry he met his future wife at a community dance.
On October 18, 1958, he married Marie Badding at Holy Cross Church in Thornton. They were married for 58 years until her death in 2017. The couple built a home in Thornton, on land from her parent's farm, and were life-long residents. Jerry and Marie had five children and he worked as an architectural draftsman. Due to his upbringing, Jerry was always proud that his family had a stable home and never had to move, where his children had cousins and friends. He really enjoyed having so much family close by. His love for woodworking was well known. He built furniture to include bedroom sets for his children along with many other projects. At various times in his life his other hobbies included square dancing, fishing, and World War II history. He will be remembered as a perfectionist in everything he did as he taught his children many lifelong skills.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Kevin (Cindy) Guiles of Fort Worth Texas, Catherine (Tim) Kubik of Littleton, CO, Caron Horner of Westminster, CO and Marvin (Suzanne Nadeski) Guiles of Stow, MA, seven grandkids, Christine (Andrew) Horgan, Jessica (Aaron) Cooper, Stephanie, Matthew and Michael (Bree Peters) Horner, Julia and Samuel Guiles, five great grandchildren, Vance, Wade and Vivian Horgan, Lucy and Weston Cooper, and many nieces and nephews. He is survived by his siblings, Ralph Guiles and Martha Carrigan.
Jerry is preceded in death by his loving wife, Marie, son Jerry Alan, his parents Ralph and Lois Guiles, sisters Thelma Jean Mathis and Elaine Cirpares, and son-in-law Steve Horner.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Accent Care Hospice for their compassion and care of Jerry.
