Joel Howard LeRoy Humphrey, age 75, passed away peacefully Friday morning, December 19, 2025. He was born February 10, 1950, in Denver, Colorado, the eldest son of the late Roy and Hildreth Humphrey.
He attended Denver South High School. Joel proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Metropolitan State College in Denver.
Finding harmony in the roar of a Harley-Davidson and the chords of a keyboard he lived a life of rhythm and road. He found freedom and camaraderie of the riding community with soul and skill in his love of music. He was a king of trivia and the first to break the tension with a well-timed joke or humorous remark.
Joel is survived by his wife of 20 years, Cheryl (Cattrell) Nelson-Humphrey, his former wife, Margarete Humphrey and their daughter, Annette Humphrey, stepdaughter, Megan Nelson, and brothers, Dan Humphrey and John (Sherri) Humphrey.
Joel will be buried with military honors at Ft. Logan Cemetery.
