Linda Selkirk Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we share that Dr. Linda Kay (Vohs) Selkirk, PhD, age 72, unexpectedly passed away on January 9, 2026, in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Linda was born on January 21, 1953, in Denver, Colorado to the late Jack Allen Vohs and Betty Jo (Hastings) Vohs. Linda spent her childhood in Cheyenne Wells and Lamar, Colorado. She later moved to Alamosa to attend Adams State College. While there, she agreed to a double blind date where she met Larry Selkirk-the man who would become her beloved husband of 50 years, and lifelong partner. She was very practical, so before marrying Larry, they agreed to a 120-year marriage "contract" with the option to renew. ;-)

In 1980, Linda became a mother to the first of her three daughters, and shortly thereafter, she and Larry made their home in Fort Collins, Colorado. A lifelong learner, Linda's career spanned early childhood education, work as a paralegal and court recorder, and ultimately a deep passion for higher education. She dedicated 28 years to Colorado State University, during which time she proudly earned both her master's degree in education and her doctorate in educational leadership.

Linda was deeply loved by all who were lucky enough to be part of her life. She will be remembered for her humor and wit that brought laughter at unexpected moments; her unique ability to not only listen but help people see themselves while somehow always giving them the advice and feedback they really needed; being welcoming and ensuring everyone had a place to go any time they wanted or needed one; building close connections with and having a boundless love for living things-especially dogs; and her passion for learning and extraordinary ability to inspire and encourage others to feel the same.

Linda is survived by her husband, Larry Selkirk; her sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Erich Zaynard; her daughters and sons-in-law, Kate and Billy Norton, Karen and Daniel Perez, and Ellen and Joey Gomora; her grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Colton Hanratty (son of Barbara Hanratty), his wife Amy and son Logan, Bethany, Alexander, and Dawn Norton; Daniel and Katherine Perez; Mason and Max Gomora; other treasured family as well as friends who have become family.

A memorial service will be held on January 31, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at Quebec Place Chapel at Fairmount, 430 S. Quebec St., Denver, CO 80247.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you consider making a donation to support one of the places Linda cared deeply about: NOCO Humane, Food Bank for Larimer County, or Animal Friends Alliance.
