Lucas Skrzypek Obituary

Lucas Michael (Luke) was born September 7, 1999 and departed this life at his home in Calhan on January 15, 2026. Luke was born in Aurora, Colorado at The Medical Center of Aurora to Eric and Judy Skrzypek. Luke lived in Calhan his whole life with his parents and sister Shea.

Luke attended Calhan School. He was active with school functions and sporting events. He participated in Special Olympics basketball, Tiger sled hockey and various track events. He enjoyed participating with the band for concerts and homecoming activities. He always rose bright and early for many all day road trips to watch his sister and cousins compete in their sporting activities.

Luke enjoyed taking drives to see the beauty of his community and Colorado and gator rides on the family property. He loved balloons with ribbons and pom poms. Luke was very well known in his community and impacted many lives with his gentle and kind ways. He had so many wonderful care givers throughout his life for which he will be forever grateful.

Without many words, he communicated so eloquently. His genuine smile and contagious laugh would light up any room. Many referred to Luke as the Gentle Giant – a big guy with the most kind heart and soul. Though Luke was disabled with Autism and Epilepsy, his strength to battle through the challenges were always reflected in his positive and non-complaining attitude.

He was proceeded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Connie Skrzypek and maternal grandparents, Maynard and Dorothy Nelson.

He is survived by his parents and sister, as well as many wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins, care givers and friends.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at Living Word Church in Calhan.
