Paul Henderson Obituary

Paul loved growing up in Denver and the nearby Rocky Mountains of Colorado in his large family of his parents Victor and Irene Gardell Henderson, older sister Carol, and younger brothers Mark (Camille), John and Larry (Stephanie). He attended Denver South High School and Metro State University. He was proud of his Denver native status.

Paul met Jo Lynne Purvine, new to Denver from Oklahoma, and began a wonderful life together with a wedding in the summer of 1972. Paul became “Dad” in 1976 and again in 1978 with sons Corey (Hai-Fen) and Josh (Jenny).

Paul loved to take his family on car trips to the mountains, even if it was just to drive the beautiful backroads in every Colorado season. He loved fishing in the lakes and rivers for trout with neighborhood families. Sundays were for worshipping at church and watching the Broncos, win or lose. Paul’s faith was important to him, as he attended a weekly Bible study group and served as an usher at St. Mark Catholic Church in Highlands Ranch.

Paul was amazingly skilled with working with his hands. He was Paul’s Plumbing for over 30 years. His loyal customers and contractors knew he would arrive in his white van, get a job done well, and chat like a friend. He built furniture for his sons' rooms and helped them fabricate over the top school projects of pipe, metal, and wood in the garage. He lovingly supported his boys in sports, hiked and camped right alongside them as a Boy Scout leader, with the highlight being at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.

Paul was “Uncle Fuzzy” to his nieces and nephews who giggled when grabbing his blonde and later, gray beard. Paul became “Bapa” to granddaughter Linden, and grandson Wyatt, hosting them for special times of art projects, movies, meals, and attending their activities.

His family thanks those who loved Paul and supported us in the last few challenging years, especially his wonderful caregivers at Highline Place Memory Care.

In lieu of flowers, his family would like to suggest a donation to the Alzheimer's Association.
