Richard Weiner Obituary

Obituary of Richard "Dick" Weiner
Denver native, Richard "Dick" Weiner, died on June 14, 2025. He was 85. The funeral was held at Beth Jacob Congregation, Beverly Hills, California on June 15. Dick was an active member of Beth Jacob Congregation for nearly 60 years, after he left Denver to attend USC Law School.
As a child, Dick was devoted to the Jewish community in Denver, and an active participant in Hebrew school and synagogue, a devotion he carried to his adopted home in Los Angeles. Dick was a very active member of the Los Angeles Jewish community, serving on the board of Beth Jacob Congregation and the Board of Jewish Family Services, delivering meals for Tomchei Shabbos and checking the community eruv. He was a dedicated member of the choir at Beth Jacob Congregation, where his beautiful bass voice elevated services on Shabbat and holidays. His passing leaves a deep hole in the Los Angeles Jewish community.
Dick, making use of his legal talents, served as a leading advocate on behalf of many public causes and campaigns, and helped improve the lives of many in the neighborhood.
Dick maintained a lifelong love for the Denver Jewish community, and maintained a subscription to the Intermountain Jewish News his entire 60 years in Los Angeles.
Dick is the son of Jack and Celia Weiner, and his loving wife of 47 years, Linda Weiner, predeceased him, in January of this year. He is survived by his sister, Sheila Weiner, his daughter Penina Weinberger and her husband Tommy, his son, Elon Schoenholz and his spouse Bryn, and grandchildren Ariela (and Jonathan) Steinberg, Avigail (and Jonathan) Bryn, Nomi (and Jakob) Deutsch, Nusia Schoenholz, Ivan Schoenholz, and great grandchildren, Navah Steinberg, Adina Steinberg, Micah Bryn and Sari Deutsch.
