On Thursday, October 8, 2020, Robbin (Robb) Douglas Hendershot passed away at the age of 49. A devoted father, loyal dog dad, gifted maker, and passionate explorer of ideas, Robb leaves behind a legacy of curiosity, creativity, and generosity.
Robb was born on February 18, 1971, in Colorado Springs to Don and Bev Hendershot. He spent 25 years at Lockheed Martin, where his career reflected his lifelong fascination with space and innovation. Robb passionately worked on the GOES satellite program, celebrating the successful launch of GOES-16 in 2018, and was actively working on GOES-R at the time of his passing.
Outside of work, Robb poured his energy into building community. He was deeply involved in the maker movement, serving as a member and operations manager of Denhac, a local hackerspace, and as a state ambassador for Nation of Makers. Robb believed strongly in sharing knowledge, empowering others, and creating things together.
Robb’s interests were as expansive as his imagination. He loved travel, off-roading in his Jeep, performing magic, and reminiscing about his days playing trumpet in his high school band. He had a special fondness for 1980s movies and loved every cheesy kaiju film. Above all, Robb was a proud and devoted father to his daughter, Katrina, and to their beloved husky, Sasha.
Robb is survived by his daughter, Katrina (Katt) Hendershot; his parents, Don and Bev Hendershot; his sister, Trina Foster; and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, coworkers, and members of the maker community who were touched by his passion.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
