Roma Rehkow Obituary

Roma, age 88 was born in Haigler, NE in her grandmother, Lottie Roach’s front room to Helen and Clarence Rath. Growing up in the 1940’s, she was very lucky to enjoy summers “In Town” with her maternal grandparents Lottie and Charlie Roach and “On the Farm” with her paternal grandparents, Elizabeth and Christian Rath not far away in St. Francis, KS.

Roma attended South High in Denver and was married to her high school sweetheart Jerry on June 6, 1957. They were married for 63 wonderful years before he died in June 2020. Together they had three children, Christopher, Polly and Matthew. Tragically Matthew died in 1962 of leukemia.

After Chris and Polly left home in the early 1980’s Roma and Jerry moved to Downtown Denver and enjoyed many trips and cruises that took them to over 160 countries.

Roma and Jerry attended Augustana Lutheran Church for over 50 years. Roma was a long time member of the Phoebe Circle and enjoyed embroidering Baptismal Handkerchiefs for all of the new babies baptized at Augustana.

After Jerry died Roma lived at Brookdale Parkplace not far from the house where they lived when first married. She had many good friends and was a highly sought after bridge partner and played bingo there often.

Roma is survived by her brother Kent Rath and her children Christopher Rehkow and his wife Dawn who reside in New York, NY and Polly Wall and her husband David who live in Canterbury, England. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Philistratos Klidaras and Caroline Pappas and a great grandchild William Christopher Pappas.

Services will be held at Augustana Lutheran Church on October 10, 2025 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers please send a contribution to Augustana.
