Ruhi Nasreen Mall, 84, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025, in Longmont, Colorado, surrounded by the love of her family.
Ruhi was born in Sialkot, India, and from her earliest years, she embodied curiosity, compassion, and an enduring love of learning. She pursued an exceptional education, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Asian History, European History, Geography, English, and Urdu from Kinnaird College in Lahore, West Pakistan; a Bachelor of Education in Social Sciences, Languages, and General Sciences from the University of Panjab; and graduate studies in Geography at Kinnaird College. After immigrating to the United States, Ruhi continued her academic journey at the Iliff School of Theology and the University of Denver, earning a Master’s in Theology with a Minor in Psychology and Counseling, and later completing graduate credits in Geography, Rocky Mountain Region and Natural Resources and their Conservation at Colorado University. Ruhi’s life was one of faith, intellect, and steadfast devotion to her family. She was guided by a sincere pursuit of goodness—striving always to live with integrity, loyalty, and compassion. She found deep peace in clean, beautiful spaces and drew inspiration from nature’s quiet grace.
She is survived by her beloved daughter Sonia Fossen (née Mall), son-in-law Ryan Fossen, whom she cherished as her own son, and her adored grandson Torin Fossen, the light of her life. She is also survived by her brother Javed Dean; her sister Nazneen Massey, brother-in-law Doug Massey, and their family — Neena Massey and her son Solace Welton; Norvan Massey and his wife Veronica, and their sons Armaan and Ayaan Massey; her brother Jhanzeib Dean, sister-in-law Kauser Dean, and their daughters Sanam, Sana Gill, Saba, and Kiran; her nephew Bill Shafi and his sons Vincent and Christian Shafi; and her niece Farrah Townsley, her husband Brad Townsley, and their daughters Katalina Townsley and Cierra McDonald.
Ruhi loved her family, friends, and faith above all else. Her gentle strength, warmth, and wisdom touched every life she encountered — and even many she never met directly. Her legacy of kindness, intellect, and faith will continue to shine in the hearts and minds of all who knew her.
