In loving memory of Sandra Bridges, a cherished soul who touched the hearts of many, we announce her peaceful passing on March 4, 2026, at her cherished home, following a brave and dignified battle with illness. Born on October 10, 1944, in
Beaumont, Texas, Sandra was a beacon of love and strength for her family and community. Sandra was the beloved daughter of the late Marion Cooper Sr. and Mary Williams.
Sandra's journey began in
Beaumont, Texas, where she graduated from Charlton Pollard High School before attending cosmetology school. Her thirst for knowledge and self-improvement led her to earn an Associate's degree in Business online.
In 1972 Sandra married the love of her life, James R. Bridges in
Denver, Colorado. Her professional life was marked by dedication and service, beginning with her work in administration for the Sheriff's Department during that year. She later transitioned into the fields of home health and telecommunications, ultimately retiring from Qwest Communications after a fulfilling career.
A woman of deep faith, Sandra was a steadfast member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years. She enriched the congregation as a member of the Usher Board, Choir, and as a Deaconess. Her commitment to her community extended beyond the church walls; Sandra was an active member of the Black Caucus and served as a Delegate Representative of Colorado. She passionately worked on political campaigns for Mayor Webb, Bill Clinton, and former President Obama, driven by her tireless advocacy for the Democratic Party and her determination to encourage civic engagement.
Sandra's love for cooking was a hallmark of her nurturing spirit, as she delighted in hosting her family for Sunday dinners, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Her beautiful smile and kind heart were constants throughout her life, as she always sought to provide information, support, and advocacy for those in need. Her unwavering faith and love for the Lord were evident to all. as she consistently shared messages of God's goodness, leaving everyone with a heartfelt "God bless you."
Sandra was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 61 years James Rufus Bridges, parents Marion Cooper Sr. and Mary Williams, as well as family members: Walter Kindred Jr., LouDella Brooks, Marion Cooper Jr., Murray Cooper, Adrian Cooper, May Cooper, Reba Cooper, Rhonda Hickman, and Lonnie Hickman.
Her legacy of warmth and compassion continues through the lives of those she leaves behind: her six children-Byron McIntosh, Cornell Bridges, Erika Bridges (Adrian) Spruell, Nikki Bridges, and Parish Bridges-along with 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Shared Touch Home Health, The Denver Hospice, and all the caregivers who provided compassionate services during Sandra's final days.
