Sandra Drumm Obituary

Sandra Jo “Sandy” Drumm was born Sandra Jo Hamilton on January 9, 1962 in Haynesville LA to Mary Faye and Bobbie Jo Hamilton. She passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025 at age 63 after an extended battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Gary, their two sons Alan and Kyle, six grandchildren Tessa (12), Eli (11), Avery (10), Malachi (8), Bryce (6), and Jessi (6), and her sister Tanya and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents Faye and Bobbie.

During her youth she lived overseas, with time spent in Dalby Australia (where Tanya was born), Nigeria, Algeria, Egypt, Libya, and the UK before returning to Weatherford Texas for her senior year of high school.

On December 27, 1982 she married Gary and moved to Seattle where he was a student. In 1986 they moved to Chicago, then to Lake Jackson Texas before settling in the Denver area in 1994. In 2000 she began student teaching and taking classes at the University of Northern Colorado, earning her bachelor’s degree in education in 2005. She worked steadily as a substitute elementary teacher in the Cherry Creek School District until she retired in January 2024 due to her illness. Her passion for education made her a popular choice for teachers when a sub was needed, and students loved to see her there in the morning. She felt very strongly about the value of early education, including the arts. This same enthusiasm led her to be a steadfast member of the choir at Smoky Hill United Methodist Church for nearly 25 years.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday June 28, 2025 at 11 am at:

Smoky Hill United Methodist Church

19491 E Smoky Hill Rd

Centennial CO 80015

In honor of Sandy’s passion for education and music, the SHUMC Bountiful Spirit Fund was created to fund scholarships for aspiring and promising music education students. Contributions may be made to this fund via SHUMC to help make it self-sustaining. The church website is SmokyHillUMC.org

Alternatively, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
