Scott Sommerfeld, age 51, of Denver, CO, passed away on April 7, 2026 surrounded by family.
Scott was born on September 17, 1974, in Wautoma, WI to DuWayne and Pat Sommerfeld.
Scott was known for his lifelong love of all sports. Starting in the early 2000's, Scott began to give his time as an official in multiple sports. In 2021, Scott started his dream of professionally officiating, quickly becoming a trusted figure in regional sports circles. Over the years, he officiated numerous championship games across youth, high school and junior college levels and was often called upon to mentor other officials, generously sharing his knowledge and experience. His presence brought credibility and consistency to every contest he oversaw.
Beyond officiating, Scott was known for his kindness, humor, and dedication to family. He especially enjoyed cooking, taking care of others, and cherished his time spent with friends and family.
Scott is survived by his wife Ana Rodriguez, children Kaylea (Dan) Gallegos, May Sommerfeld, Braden Sommerfeld, Vincent (Yazmine) Rodriguez-Duran, Marcus Rodriguez-Duran, Christian Rodriguez-Duran, Breana Rodriguez-Duran; grandchildren Alani, Giovanni and Olivia; parents DuWayne and Pat Sommerfeld; sisters Erika Sommerfeld and Jody (Matt) Steigerwald; and in-laws Frank and Paula Rodriguez. He also leaves behind a wide circle of friends, colleagues, and the many lives he touched throughout his life.
A memorial service celebrating Scott's life will be held on April 18, 2026, from 1-4 pm at the Emmanuel Parish Hall, W1561 Evergreen Lane, Montello, WI 53949. An additional celebration of life for friends and family will be held in Denver, CO on April 26th from 12-3pm at the Aurora Sports Park, 19300 E. Colfax Ave, Aurora, CO 80011.
